A seminar about Acting, the Psychology of Performance, was conducted by Mr Laurence Rudic, Visiting British Actor and Director at the Diplomatic Club.

Dr Amr Badawy (Chairman, National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority) delivered a speach about the Liberalization and Recent Developments in the Telecommunications Sector, Le Pasha.

On 4 September, The British Ambassador in Egypt, Sir Derek Plumbly presented award certificates to young Egyptians who have recently returned to Egypt after completing their post-graduate studies in Britain, paid for by the British Government.
The students have spent a year in UK studying for Masters, PhDs or post-graduate diplomas in various fields including Economics, Finance, Law, Media, and Environmental Studies. Their studies have been funded jointly by the British Government, and local co-sponsors, under the Chevening Scholarship scheme. Around another 30 scholars, have gone to the UK in September 06 to take up their study, also attended the ceremony. In addition, this year the British Ambassador in Egypt awarded certificates to scholars who were awarded Chevening Fellowships for intense study of issues related to finance, economics, governance and Sharia.
Well done to returning scholars and good luck to departing ones

Ramadan Iftar is one of the important social gatherings for AGTBE members, this year IFTAR was organized at the LE Pacha restaurant with the participation of over 70 AGTBE members and guests.
Activities 2004 - 2005

November 2004
On the first of November, AGTBE board organized an Iftar at Marriott hotel in Cairo, where over 70 members were present. Dr. Kamel addressed the members and briefed them about the plan of activities and the need to involve the members in planning and implementation of events, “the association will only be lively by the participation of its members”
December 2005
On 15 December 2005, the members of AGTBE gathered for a dinner in El Pacha restaurant in Zamalek. AGTBE has invited Mr. Mohamed Hamamasy to address the members and give a speech on the development of Islamic art and architecture in Cairo .
January 2005
A cultural walk was organized for AGTBE member and their families to the monuments of Coptic Cairo. The walk included visiting the Moallake Church, the church of St. Sergius and the Synagogue. 35 members participated in this cultural activity and gathered for a lunch afterwards.
February 2005
The Egyptian society is undergoing a lot of cultural and social changes that are witnessed and demonstrated in a number of phenomenon, this was addressed by Dr. Galal Amin, professor of Economics at the American University in Cairo in his keynote speech to the members of AGTBE. Dr. Amin was commenting on the reasons and implications of these changes in light of all the political, economic and social environment in Egypt . The event was attended by over 70 AGTBE members and held at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo .
March 2005
A lot has been said about the government plans to increase incoming tourism and rach the level of 10 million tourists, what are the needs and implications of such policy, that was the topic addressed by Mr. Maged Abaza professor of Marketing at the American University in Cairo. Mr. Abaza highlighted the key requirements and challenges related to such a number based on the current state of market in terms of available resources and potential needs. The lecture was attended by over 40 AGTBE members in the Diplomatic Club in Cairo .
April 2005
Dr. Mostafa El Fikki, chairman of the board of trustees of the British University in Cairo was the keynote speaker for the AGTBE lecture held in April. Mr. El Fikki was addressing a number of pressing issues taking place on the political and economic arena both in Egypt and worldwide. The lecture was attended by 40 attendees at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo .
June 2005
Often scholars returning from abroad face a number of challenges and obstacles to their plans for applying what they learned to the benefit of Egypt, a few of them are able to overcome these challenges and create a model for adoption that is both welcomed by government and civil society. Mr. Ibrahim Abul Eish, Chairman of Sekem Group addressed the members and shared with them his experience since he returned to Egypt and started his venture which was not only business oriented, but its social dimension in community development far exceeded its business dimension. The lecture was attended by 40 attendees at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo.
